Advice for Single Ladies

A loyal reader forwarded this interesting piece
1. Guys love to marry an Independent and Matured lady... So instead of sitting there and waiting to be bluffed by a guy, focus on getting a career that would take you out of the house wife category...
2. Never let the sweet talks of MOST guys deceive you, sometimes all they just want is to have easy access between your legs and run off thereafter.
3. Remove the mentality from your mind that guys will keep springing up to approach you. The older you get by the day, the less toasters you will have.
4. Playing 'too' hard to get is the worst thing you should ever start, remember, Nothing lasts forever. If you still doubt, check out the number of matured single ladies looking up to GOD FOR A MIRACLE (Husband).
5. Never extort things from a guy you don't love, guys always have ways of paying a girl back, either through their FRIENDS or total 'PAID' STRANGERS....BE CAREFUL.
6. Never be deceived you can trap a guy through sex. A man will also return to his wife who sex starves him for years once he loves and trust her. You can never win a man over with your body.
7. If all you take to the relationship is the mind set to EXTRACT MONEY from him, don't complain if all he ask from you is your body. He has seen you have nothing else to offer...
8. Don't be fooled when Guys tell you they have never met a prettier girl, they will say that same thing to an 80year old woman they want to get intimate with.
9. A guy always taking you to the SILVER-BIRD, FAST FOOD (pizza in or galitos), MALL AND EVENTS AT CONFERENCE CENTER/NATIONAL THEATRE is no sign that he loves you, if he doesn't care to ask and PLAN YOUR FUTURE TOGETHER then you are just his 'SOCIAL MATE' and nothing else....
10. If the only time he invites you over is when he needs to cook, clean the house and do his laundry, then just know you are his "executive house help".
11. If he avoids meeting your family and close friends then it is an obvious sign he is just playing games with you.
12. Don't always change the tv station from NTV to CHANNEL O, MTV and Fashion TV. Take time to find out what is bothering him and how you can help out.
13. If the only places he doesn't frown when you enter are his bedroom and kitchen then know you aren't welcome (only being used).
Have you noticed that most of the ladies that end up being emotionally abused are the ones at the receiving end... Always with open arms, requesting for something and ready to receive... The more you widen your arms, the more he widens your legs.

A grown up guy who gives the excuse about his parents being wild when he brings female visitors to the house is a sign that HE HAS A SERIOUS GIRL AND HAS INTRODUCED HER TO HIS PARENTS ALREADY... ADVISE YOURSELF...

FINALLY, I ALWAYS SAY THIS AND WILL REPEAT IT AGAIN... It's better to be sitting in a taxi smiling happily than to be in your husband’s fresh air conditioned BMW x6 with bruised eyes wearing a fresh Gucci shades alongside a Burberry scarf....

JUST REMEMBER, THAT DATING A RICH MAN DOESN'T GUARANTEE HAPPINESS IN MARRIAGE... MONEY IS
NOT EVERYTHING..... MAKING RIGHT CHOICES IN LIFE IS WHAT MATTERS MOST!

important things no one tells you about marriage

Outside of communication, the ability to resolve problems is the second most important part of marriage.
Every day it feels as if we are bombarded with negative reports about the institution of marriage. So much so that you would think no one is getting married anymore, right? Well, that statement couldn’t be further from the truth. Last year alone there were nearly 3 million weddings in the U.S.
If the number of marriages is so high, why all of the negative press, you ask? Many experts say other factors are often used to support the “poor state of marriage.” For example: The number of couples who live together without marrying has increased tenfold since 1960 and Americans are waiting about five years longer to marry than they did in 1970.  On top of that, the divorce rate, namely among lower socio-economic groups, is increasing.
Before you make any conclusions, know that there is a silver lining in the recent data reported. Among couples getting married, there is increased stability. More and more couples are acknowledging that it is important to have a level of awareness and skills before entering matrimony in order to remain in matrimony. In 2011, nearly 50 percent of couples received premarital counseling.
While I don’t offer premarital counseling (yet), if I did, these are the 13 subjects I would focus on.
Conflict Resolution Is Key
Outside of communication, the ability to resolve problems is the second most important part of marriage. Having the same values allows for better understanding when working on the big issues — such as how to raise the children.
Marriage Is Not Always 50/50
Sometimes you have to put in the majority of what’s needed in the relationship. Other times, your partner will put in more. This is called teamwork. And it takes teamwork to make the dream work.
Attraction Typically Grows
Don’t worry if you will continue being attracted to your partner 5, 10, or 15 years in the future. According to a recent study I read about couples married for 30 years, most reported being more attracted to their spouse now than at the time of their wedding. (No wonder that Viagra is seeing explosive growth in their 55-65 year old age bracket)
Your Marriage Isn’t Safe from Gossip
Ninety-nine percent of the people you know will gossip about your marriage. Keep your personal business between you and your spouse and that gossip will have zero impact.
Don’t Make Comparisons
It’s very destructive and dangerous to compare your spouse to other people (or worse, celebrities and public figures). Don’t do it, ever.
Marriage Isn’t a Finish Line
I’ll never forget someone telling me (just days before my wedding), “man, you’re getting ready to check out, you’re reaching the finish line.” He couldn’t have been further from the truth. Marriage is the start of another incredible journey in life, not an ending to your happy story.
Good Communication Is Part of Your Foundation
All relationships (romantic and platonic) live and die based on the strength of communication. This is one area that should be honed prior to marriage.
Sex With Just One Person Is Not A Death Sentence
According to numerous national sex surveys, both married men and women report having higher satisfaction and more frequent sex than singles.
Focus On Height Rather than Length
When I tell people I’ve been married for 10 years, I get all kinds of congratulations but I’m never asked about the quality of those years. Society is obsessed with “how long” we do certain things. It is more important to focus on soaring as high as possible together.
Complacency Is Not Your Friend
Straying emotionally or physically from a relationship typically happens when one partner becomes complacent. Keeping your marriage fresh and exciting should be your motto.
The In-Laws Are Not the Enemy
Marriage is not simply the joining of two people, it’s the merger of two families and legacies. Treat it as such.
A Great Marriage Isn’t Conflict Free
If someone tells you they never argue with their spouse, send them back to the insane asylum. Real couples fight. Great couples fight fair.
Kids Are Serious Business
Despite what R&B tells us, becoming parents isn’t as simple as “let’s go half on a baby.” Bringing a child into a marriage will test every strand of your relationship. Be sure your marriage is strong, before even thinking about a baby.

Okada’ rider stabs peacemaker to death in Lagos

A 23-year-old commercial motorcycle rider, Jigila Ibrahim, has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly stabbing Talabi Ademola (43) to death with a screw-driver.
Ademola was reported to have been stabbed to death while trying to settle a fight between Ibrahim and a passenger over transportation fare.
Ibrahim, who operates a commercial motorcycle popularly known as ‘okada’, was arraigned before the court on a count charge of murder, an offence which according to the prosecutor, Iyobosa I., is punishable under section 221 of the criminal law of Lagos state of Nigeria, 2011.
According to Iyobosa: “On the day of the incident, a passenger hired the accused from Opebi to a Total filling station at Oregun, and they bargained for N200, but on return from the trip the passenger offered the Okada rider N120, instead of  the agreed N200 and this resulted in a fight during which the accused (the Okada rider) brought out a screwdriver from his motorcycle and stabbed the deceased who was trying to settle the rift between the okada rider and the passenger, at the left side of the chest.”
Ademola, who was said to have been offloading cement from a truck, was confirmed dead at the Lagos State University Teaching hospital (LASUTH).
The Magistrate, Kemi Doja-Ojo, ordered the prosecutor to duplicate the case file and forward it to the  office of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice.
The case was later adjourned till February 15 for mention.

26-year-old woman delivers two babies within nine months

26yr-twobabiesA woman has defied medical odds to give birth to two children in nine months – even though she was using contraception both times she became pregnant.
Claire Ormrod (26) had her daughter Alice on December 6, 2011, at 25 weeks, by emergency Caesarean. When she was born, weighing just 1lb 3oz (500g), Alice was the smallest baby ever born in Wales. Seven weeks later Ms Ormrod then became pregnant again, despite being on the pill, and had healthy baby Gareth, weighing exactly 2lbs (900g), at 29 weeks, also by emergency Caesarean, on September 7, 2012.
Doctors have been stunned at the “medical impossibility” of the two babies being born so close together. Alice and Gareth will be in the same class when they start at a primary school in Rhyl, north Wales.
Ms Ormrod, who jointly runs a martial arts company with her partner Gareth Gee (36), has three older children – Molly (7), Jack (5) and Charlie (2). All five were conceived in spite of precautions.
She said: “With every one of my children I was on the pill or the coil,” she explained.
“I was on the waiting list to be sterilised when I fell pregnant with Gareth. The coil is supposed to be 99,99 percent effective and I was on it when I had three of my children.” She was in fact on a waiting list to be sterilised when she discovered she was expecting for the fifth time.
Given the ordeal she had so recently been through with Alicebeing born so prematurely, Ms Ormrod said she was “absolutely petrified” when she discovered she was pregnant again.

“My GP said I should have a termination. He said it would end up killing me and the baby and that it wouldn’t be fair to put me through it. But I said no,straight out. No one could believe it when we told them I was pregnant again. They just couldn’t get their heads round the fact that the two babies would be so close together,” said Ms Ormrod.
Had Alice been born a week earlier, at the 24 weeks, she says doctors wouldn’t have tried to save her. Medical experts believe that babies bornat this stage only have a tiny chance of survival. Ifthey do pull through, they are more likely to have long-term health problems such as lung conditions, learning difficulties and cerebral palsy.
Ms Ormrod said: “She would have been a 24-week baby and they wouldn’t have thought she had a chance,” she said. Alice was so ill that her family had started arranging her funeral and gave her a hasty baptism. Crucially, they were 90 minutes from switching off her life support machine when she showed her first signs of life.
Ms Ormrod said:”We were told she was so ill, they would have turn off her life support machine, because she couldn’t survive.
“One hour before they were about to turn it off, she woke up, then she started breathing on her own. She is a miracle baby, she is a fighter. They told us there was no brain activity and then she woke up.

Woman Burns Girl’s Thighs With Hot Iron

A 39-year old Nigerian woman has burnt a girl’s thighs with hot iron after accusing her of stealing her N1,000 at Oshodi area of Lagos State.

The woman, Mrs. Kudirat Isekolowo, who lives at  Igbehinadun area of Oshodi, said she did not know what came over her when she carried out the act.
The mother of three was arrested by officials of the Lagos State Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, WAPA, and Esther Child Right Foundation and brought to the Lagos State Government Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.
Traders were close to tears at Oshodi Market where the woman sells clothes, when they saw how the thighs of the 15-year old girl (name withheld) was seriously burnt, leaving permanent deep scars on her body.
The little girl was sent by her parents, who live at Agege area of Lagos, to live with Isekolowo and serve as apprentice in her clothing shop. She started living with her in November 2012.
At the WAPA Ministry, Alausa, there was anger when government officials saw the deep wounds on the girl’s body, while they described the woman as extremely wicked and needed to be punished severely.
Apart from the deep wounds on her thighs, there are also wounds all over her body, occasioned by constant beating and maltreatment.
According to the girl, Kudirat accused her of stealing her N1,000 last week, but she denied stealing the money.
She said the woman plugged a pressing iron and made sure it was very hot and pressed it on her two thighs and one of her hands, leaving deep wounds on her body.
“I am not the one who stole the N1,000. She said I took it and I denied it. She plugged iron and pressed it on my two thighs. My parents live in Agege, they asked me to live with her and learn how to sell clothes as they don’t have money,” she explained.
On why there were other wounds all over her body, she said Kudirat usually beat her with wire. Kudirat admitted carrying out the act, saying that the girl stole her N1,000.
“She stole my N1,000 last week and I don’t know what came over me.  I know what I did is bad.  I don’t know what happened to me when I did it,” she said.
Kudirat wept when she knew that she could go to jail for her wicked act. Even her close friends who came with her felt very bad when they saw the degree of damage to the girl’s thighs.
Executive Director, Esther Child Right Foundation, Mrs Esther Ogwu said she got a call from the founder of Compassionate Women Initiative, Mrs. Mary Olasupo, about a woman who burnt the thighs of a little girl with hot iron.
“We moved in immediately with the WAPA officials and arrested her and brought her to Alausa. At Oshodi market where we arrested her, traders were screaming when they saw the wound in the girl’s body,” she explained.
Esther said it is now left for the state government to prosecute her in accordance with the child right’s law to serve as a deterrent to others.
According to Mary, the founder, Compassionate Women Initiative, “a woman called me some days ago to intimate me about the incident. She told me that a woman had an apprentice, whom she accused of stealing her N1,000 and then used hot iron to burn her two thighs. That was when I called Esther Child Right Foundation for help and they came.”
Officials of the state government have vowed that the woman would be prosecuted and be made to pay for her callous act.

Baby born with heart outside her body leaves hospital after miracle surgery

A happy, strong and recovering Audrina decked out in a bow and heart shield to protect the vital organ.
A three-month old baby born with her heart outside her body will finally leave the hospital on Thursday with the vital organ safely back in her chest.
Audrina Cardenes was born with a rare and normally fatal condition called ectopia cordis, in which all or part of the heart is outside the body.

Audrina’s heart was fully outside her body when she was born, a rare, and usually deadly condition.

A skilled team of surgeons at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston operated on Audrina’s strong but exposed heart in November, and new photos from the procedure released Thursday show her heart “shield.”

Audrina’s mother,  Ashley Cardenas, was a fixture at the hospital. She will now be able to take her daughter home, officials said Thursday.

“Only eight out of 1 million babies are born with ectopia cordis, and 90 percent of these babies are either stillborn or die within the first 3 days of life,” the hospital’s official blog said after Audrina’s surgery.
Two months after her operation to place her heart back inside her chest, the baby is now ready to leave the hospital and go home with her family.

“Audrina is a true fighter and we are hopeful that she will continue to progress,” Audrina’s surgeon, Dr. Charles D. Fraser, said shortly after the risky operation. “I am also hopeful that Audrina’s case marks the beginning of our ability to care for more children diagnosed with ectopia cordis in the future.”
