CAF names top three for African Footballer of the Year

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Wednesday announced the top three candidates for this year’s African Footballer of the Year award, after taking down Ghana’s Andre Ayew and Senegalese Demba Ba from an initial five-man shortlist published a fortnight ago.

Reigning footballer Yaya Toure and his compatriot Didier Drogba are joined by Cameroonian midfielder Alexander Song to vie for the prestigious accolade whose winner will be announced on December 20 at the Awards Gala in Accra, Ghana.

Alexander Song (Cameroon, Barcelona)

Yaya Toure (Cote D’Ivoire, Manchester City)

Rainford Kalaba (Zambia, TP Mazembe)

Stoppila Sunzu (Zambia, TP Mazembe)
