Contrary to the speculation that Aviation Terminal of the Muritala Muhammad International Airport, Lagos was engulfed by fire in about some hours ago, DailyPost can authoritatively confirm that the fire incident only occurred at the new site, currently under construction. The site is expected to be an extension of the present Aviation terminal.
Reliable source, a senior Aviation officer who spoke to our correspondent but pleaded not to be in print confirmed that the fire has been brought under total control, as the men of FAAN fire service were prompt in their response and succeeded in putting out the fire.
The source had revealed that the fire outbreak was caused by a spark from irons that were being welded on top of the roof of the newly constructed building. According to him “problem started when some people working on the roof of the newly constructed terminal were unable to control the spark from the top of the building, and touching down on the foams meant for concrete layers, the entire building went off in flame, but it was quickly brought to a halt. It was not a serious incident.” He said
The source further revealed that the incident did not affect operations since it was quickly brought under control.
However, efforts made to reach the office of the Managing Director to confirm the news failed, as his official mobile line had gone through, but not answered.
